ANNUAL SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL TO FEATURE PIANO, JAZZ, VOCALS
A first-time performance by pianist Ian Hobson, and performances by jazz artist Jon Faddis, violinist Stefan Milenkovich and Grammy Award winners Nathan Gunn and the Pacifica Quartet will be among the highlights of the
fourth annual Allerton Music Barn Festival, Sept. 2-6.
2nd Annual Champaign-Urbana Folk and Roots Festival
The Champaign-Urbana Folk and Roots Festival, funded in part by a grant from Urbana's Public Arts Commission and Urbana Business Association's Business Back the Arts Program, will celebrate its second year in Downtown Urbana September 23-25, 2010.
More than ten local venues in and around the Downtown area will host over
100 performers, artists and storytellers celebrating American roots music, dance, stories and visual arts. Emphasizing community participation,
organized workshops will be offered teaching fiddle, banjo, ukulele,
mandolin, bass, drumming and more.
Dance demonstrations will also give
onlookers the opportunity to join in. This year's festival activities
will also include jam sessions and family activities such as a children's
parade, guided art activities and storytelling.
Musical artists will be announced as they are confirmed and will encompass
many genres including Bluegrass, Blues, Jazz, Cajun, Texas Swing, Old-Time, Klezmer, Tango, Folk, Salsa and more. Spontaneous street performances will surprise and delight festival goers throughout the weekend.
Many events are free and $15 admits guests to all live music performances
throughout the festival.
